Katie,
We are truly president of one another's fan clubs! I'm going to save this email and re-read it when I feel like a frumpy--fat--mom.
One of my favorite mission companions wrote this little poem to me; I've seen it somewhere since, so I know she didn't write it, but I think it should become the motto of our fan clubs.
Oh the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person;
Having neither to weigh the thoughts, nor measure the words,
But pouring them all right out,
Chaff and grain together--
Certain that a faithful hand will sift them,
Keep what is worth keeping,
And with a breath of kindness
Blow the rest away.
You are safe w/ me. If you dig yourself a hole, I'll get a rope to pull you out. And keep that rope handy b/c I'm going to need it in a minute myself. I think of you as one of my closest friends, as well. I relate to you on so many levels, and really have such a good time in your company. And I care about a ton, and feel your concerns and sincerely desire your happiness, in more that a neighborly "sympathetic" way, if you know what I mean. I don't even notice the gap in our ages. I feel like I'm 17 still, but hey, I'll take "26" too--that was a good year for me. So w/ you a perennial 19 and me forever 17, we're a good match--and now you're the older one!
